Six changes for Exeter trip

Rhys Williams will make his first start of the season when Bournville resume their National Two West campaign at Exeter University on Saturday (2pm).

Williams has made two appearances as a replacement this season, most recently in the home defeat by league leaders Camborne three weeks ago, but has been named in the starting XV for the trip to the university’s sports ground at Topsham.

Williams will form a new half-back pairing with Freddie Morgan with James Mann named as a replacement this week.

Williams is one of six changes to the side that beat Hinckley two weeks ago with Alex Evans returning on the wing in place of Dan Rundle who aggravated a calf injury in that match.

In the pack, Chad Thorne starts at tighthead prop in a switch with Stef Thorp, Harry Dawson comes into the second row to partner captain Ben Meakin with Ben O’Sullivan switching to the blindside flank in place of the unavailable Jonjo Fanning.

Malta international Louis Mifsud, who came off the bench against Hinckley, replaces Jasper Smith at number eight.
Bournville head to Exeter seeking their first away win of the season but having taken at least one bonus point from each of their three trips – at Macclesfield, Taunton and Hornets.

Exeter finished fifth last season but are currently eleventh – three places below Bournville – after an inconsistent start.

They were beaten 54-24 at Camborne two weeks ago and lost their most recent home game, 37-33 against Hornets before that.

Last season’s meetings between the clubs both went in favour of the home side with Bournville edging a thriller at Avery Fields 34-31 and Exeter winning 24-10 in the return in February.
