McNally continues rugby journey at Nottingham University

Bournville Golds back-row forward Nieve McNally will have the chance to further her rugby journey in the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Premier North having secured her place on a physiotherapy course at Nottingham University.

McNally, who is a product of Bournville’s player pathway programme, has already progressed through the system at Avery Fields and into the Golds squad.

She has also won county honours with North Midlands Under-18s and will now have the opportunity to develop further at Nottingham University which has developed a reputation for attracting performance rugby players who want to balance their continued rugby development with studying at one of the UK’s top Universities.

Nottingham run three women’s teams and have a strategic performance partnership with Leicester Tigers which integrates the university’s rugby with the Tigers’ pathway, offering coaching, staff development, and training opportunities to build a pipeline for the Premiership Women’s Rugby team.

“I’ve been looking forward to going to UoN for a while now and the rugby programme definitely plays a huge part in that,” McNally said.

“Meeting the girls and the coaches at the prospect days and open days helped to solidify my choice and I can’t wait to be a part of that in September.”
