Former Scotland international centre Alex Grove will start for Bournville when they resume their National Two West campaign against Old Redcliffians at Avery Fields on Saturday (2.30pm).
Grove was capped three times by Scotland in the 2009 Autumn Internationals and enjoyed a long and distinguished career with Worcester Warriors and a spell on loan at Edinburgh.
He joined Bournville’s new coaching team during the summer as Defence Coach but is also registered as a player and he comes into the starting line-up against Old Redcliffians to partner Sam Grimshaw in the centre.
Grove’s presence in the side should be of interest for the members of the recently-formed Worcester Warriors Supporters Trust who are attending Saturday’s match as the first of their ‘away days’ in the absence of rugby at Sixways.
Grove is the only change to the side that was beaten at Dudley Kingswinford in Bournville’s last outing four weeks ago but there are three changes to the bench.
Front-row forward James Weaver and number eight Jonjo Fanning have recovered from injury and illness respectively with Sam Wilson, who started in the centre at DK, among the replacements this weekend.
Bournville are seeking their first-ever victory over Old Redcliffians with the previous three meetings between the sides all being won by the Bristol-based club.
Old Redcliffians edged a 24-20 victory on their first visit to Avery Fields last season then won 33-14 in the final match of that campaign and 22-18 at their Scotland Lane ground in September.
Bournville | 15 Owen Williams; 14 Alex Evans, 13 Sam Grimshaw, 12 Alex Grove, 11 Nathan Decalmer; 10 Jacob Fewtrell, 9 Jay West; 1 James Burgoyne, 2 Clarkson Macleod, 3 Stefan Thorp, 4 Ben Meakin, 5 Nick Murphy, 6 Louis Mifsud, 7 Lewis Hall, 8 Chris Idehen (C).
Replacements | 16 James Weaver, 17 Ryan Smeilus, 18 Jono Fanning, 19 Rhys Williams, 20 Sam Wilson.
Bournville Blues also return to action on Saturday with a club match against Silhillians at Copt Heath (2.15pm).
Josh Bloomfield and Will Aylen, who both came off the bench for the first team at Dudley Kingswinford last month, both start for the Blues.
Bloomfield partners Archie Grimshaw in the centre, while Aylen, who is normally a a three-quarter, has been named at number eight.
