Bournville have named a 27-man squad for their final pre-season match against Sheffield Tigers at Dore Moor on Saturday August 24 (2pm).
The original plan was for Bournville and Bournville Blues to each play their Tigers’ counterparts but that has now become one match of three 30-minute periods in which all 27 players will play some part.
Bournville had mixed fortunes in their two matches last weekend, beating Bromsgrove under the Avery Fields floodlights on Friday before going down to a strong Bridgend Ravens side on Saturday.
A number of players also took knocks over the weekend and so will sit out the trip to south Yorkshire.
But seven players who were unavailable last weekend will return to action on Saturday. Brothers Owen and Rhys Williams, centre Sam Grimshaw, hooker Jake Bailey, lock Harry Dawson, centre/fly-half Joe Nellany and wing Nathan Decalmer will all get game valuable time ahead of the opening National Two West game of the season against newly-promoted Devonport Services at Avery Fields on September 7.
Owen Williams, Grimshaw and Bailey will all start with the remainder included among the 12 replacements.
Bournville Blues will play their historic first Counties Three Midlands West (South) match away to Woodrush on Friday September 6 (7.30pm).
