Bournville members and supporters are being invited to take part in planting 1,000 daffodil bulbs at Avery Fields on Sunday October 18 to help create a Remembrance and Well-Being area.
The daffodil bank will be set alongside male and female British Legion military silhouettes in the Remembrance and Well-Being Area which will honour and create a lasting legacy for all members, family and friends affected by conflict, particularly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The club’s history includes members who gave such brave service. The very first Bournville team of 1909 lost a significant number of young players in the Great War. Their photographs still sit proudly in the clubhouse, alongside many others, celebrating 115 years of men, women, and children coming together as one family to enjoy the great game of rugby and the lifelong friendships it builds.
The bulb planting on October 18 will take place between 9.15am and 12pm and all sections and members are invited to take part.
The bulbs and a selection of tools will be provided but members can bring along their own trowel, bulb planter or additional bulbs if they wish to plant something personal in remembrance of their own family members.
