Bournville’s Coaching Development Pathway was officially launched with a successful session at Avery Fields in which Head Coach Alex Grove met with 20 coaches from the across the club.
The sessions, which will be a monthly feature throughout the season, are a key part of the club’s five-year strategy and are designed to align coaching across the club to help ensure a smooth transition of players from the flourishing Minis and Juniors section into the youth and adult teams.
The feedback from the first session was overwhelmingly positive with one M&J coach saying: “My takeaways were emphasising that mistakes are good as we learn from them and trying to encourage the kids to have that attitude towards each other too.
“I liked the idea of coming straight into mini games (touch) as they arrive and working on different skills/drills at different stations.”
Another coach said: “I was one of the many in attendance and it shows how eager the youth coaches are to learn and improve so that we are putting our children in the best possible position.”
