Tom Lucas signs on with Bournville to increase scrum-half options

Bournville have strengthened their options at scrum-half with the signing of the experienced Tom Lucas.

He will arrive at Avery Fields having spent two seasons with Stourbridge and five seasons playing in the Welsh Premiership.

Lucas started his career at his hometown club Cowbridge then played for Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Bridgend before moving to the Midlands in 2022.

Lucas will add depth to Bournville’s back division and strengthen a position in which Jay West was the only fit and available specialist in the second half of last season.

We’re pleased to have signed Tom, whose core skills and experience will add value to our squad,” said Bournville’s Defence Coach Alex Grove.

“Scrum-half is an area we were light in last season so Tom’s signing will add competition to that position.”

Lucas is the sixth confirmed new recruit for Bournville ahead of the 2024/25 National Two West season, with 28 members of last season’s squad having re-signed.
