Steve Hinton inducted into Hall of Fame

Steve Hinton has become the latest inductee into Bournville’s Hall of Fame.

The club’s highest honour recognises outstanding service to the club and Steve’s involvement goes back more than 50 years.

He joined Bournville from Selly Oak Boys School – a non-rugby-playing school – and quickly made his mark as a strong counter-attacking full-back and fearless tackler, progressing through the ranks to the first team.

Steve began his second rugby career as an administrator while he was still playing by taking on the duties of club secretary. No email or mobile phones in those days, the players were informed of their selection by post card.

Steve then served as Chairman from 1993 to 1994 and, more recently, was a driving force in ensuring the club maintains links with former players from across the generations  by organising the popular reunion lunches.

It was at such a lunch that Steve was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame as a club legend alongside the likes of George Foley and Ivor Boehmer.
