The countdown to the 2024/25 National Two West season has begun with Bournville players back in pre-season training.
Having enjoyed the club’s most successful campaign last season, the players have hit the ground running having been given a fitness programme by centre Mark Coulson that has kept them in shape during the summer break.
The squad – including lots of new faces – are now back training at Avery Fields twice-a-week building up to the first pre-season friendly against Bromsgrove at Avery Fields on Friday August 16 (7.30pm).
“We’ve had a great start to pre-season with over 45 players attending our sessions so far from returning squad members, new players and also members of the colts team working with us,” said Director of Rugby Paul Sumner.
“The players have come back in great shape after Mark Coulson at MSC Performance has supported them with programming in the off-season. This gives us the chance to get straight into the rugby rather than just heavy fitness work for the first couple of weeks.
“We are excited at the talent in the group and we will be working hard to be ready for the pre-season fixtures in August.”
The Bromsgrove match will be followed by further pre-season friendlies at Sheffield Tigers of National Two North on Saturday August 24 (2.30pm) and Bridgend at Avery Fields on Saturday August 31 (2.30pm).
Bournville start the new league season with a home match against newly-promoted Devonport Services on Saturday September 8 (2.30pm).
Bournville Blues, who will compete in the RFU leagues for the first time, also have a three-match pre-season friendly programme against Bromsgrove at Avery Fields on August 16 (7.30pm), Sheffield Tigers away on August 24 and Birmingham & Solihull at Avery Fields on August 31.
The Blues’ opening league match in Counties Midlands Three West (South) is away to Woodrush on September 7 with a home match against Pershore seven days later.
