Mifsud impresses in Malta win

Louis Mifsud completed a good day’s work for Bournville by helping Malta to a 43-21 victory over Cyprus in their opening Rugby Europe Conference match in Paolo.

While Bournville were beating National Two West leaders Loughborough Students at Avery Fields, Mifsud was winning his second international cap at the Tony Bezzina stadium.

Just as he did on his debut against Cyprus in Limassol earlier in the year, Mifsud played the full 80 minutes for Malta and featured prominently in a comfortable victory.

Mifsud, who qualifies for Malta through his paternal grandparents, will have the opportunity to add to his caps next month when Malta travel to Andorra on November 30 for their next Conference match.

They are then scheduled to host Israel next April although both home and away matches against Israel last season were cancelled due to the unstable security situation in that country.
