Bournville flanker Louis Mifsud is set to win his second international cap for Malta in Saturday’s Rugby Europe Conference match against Cyprus in Paola.
Mifsud won his first cap in the 24-14 win over Cyprus in Limassol at the end of last season when he became only the second player to win full international honours while with Bournville.
Malta were due to play home and away internationals against Israel over the summer but those matches were cancelled due to the security situation in that country which meant Mifsud had to wait for the opportunity to win his second cap.
Having been named in Malta’s initial training squad for their first match in this season’s Conference competition,
Mifsud has now been included in the matchday squad for Cyprus’s visit to the Tony Bezzina Stadium, which is also the home of Malta’s Hibernian FC.
Mifsud qualifies to play for Malta through his paternal grandparents while his own rugby journey has taken him from Old Swinford Hospital School via Stourbridge to Avery Fields.
