Jasper Smith makes Bournville switch

Bournville have strengthened their second-row options by signing Jasper Smith from Dudley Kingswinford.

Smith began his senior rugby career with Kidderminster Carolians then moved to Stourbridge Lions in 2019.

After the resumption of league rugby following Covid lockdown in 2021, Smith had his first taste of National Leagues rugby with Stourbridge.

He moved to Dudley Kingswinford 12 months ago and impressed with his athleticism and lineout work in a narrow defeat at Avery Fields last September.

“We are delighted that Jasper has joined us,” said Bournville Head Coach Matt Price.

“He is a player who is very athletic and powerful with a very good lineout brain too.

“Jasper will add to our environment well and we are looking forward to seeing him go from the off.”

Smith is Bournville’s fourth new signing for the 2024/25 National Two West season, and he will join his former Dudley Kingswinford team-mates Chad Thorne and Ben Rhodes and Old Halesonians back-row forward Adam Shaw, at Avery Fields.
