Centre Sam Grimshaw scored a hat-trick of tries to move Bournville Blues closer to promotion with an emphatic 61-5 victory over Dudley Kingswinford IIs at Heathbrook in Counties Three Midlands West (South).
The win took the Blues into second place four points behind new leaders Upton on Severn, who edged out Hereford IIs at Wyeside.
The Blues end their season with a mouthwatering local derby against third-placed Woodrush at Avery Fields next Saturday with Upton travelling to fourth-placed Cleobury Mortimer.
Although the Blues had to concede home advantage against DK as the Avery Fields clubhouse had been booked for a wedding reception but it proved to be no disadvantage at all as they had the try bonus safely secured by half-time when they led 40-0.
Grimshaw, who started for the first XV against Luctonians last week, made his mark by scoring a third of the Blues’ nine tries but it was fly-half Alex Warner who finished with most points – 21 – with a try and eight conversions.

An excellent team performance and a great result by Bournville Blues.
Here are a few photos. I could have posted more, but let’s be photographic gourmets here and not have too much stodge.
