Hookers James Weaver, Jake Bailey, Ollie Stone and Clarkson McLeod are the latest Bournville plays to commit to the club by re-signing for next season.
Club captain Weaver recently made his 100th first team appearance and was given the honour of jointly leading out the side with his fellow centurion and front row colleague James Burgoyne for the final National Two West match of the season against Hinckley.
Weaver has become a popular and respected figure since he arrived at Avery Fields from Moseley Oak six years ago and as club captain plays an important role in linking the different sections of the club.
Bailey’s season – his first season joining from Hartpury University – was badly disrupted by a broken hand, which kept him sidelined for six months, but he made a successful return to action as a replacement in the season finale against Hinckley with some aggressive ball-carrying which contributed to a tense victory.
Stone joined Bournville from Kenilworth, via Coventry, 12 months ago and made 20 appearances in his first season at Avery Fields, proving himself to be a valuable member of the squad.
McLeod arrived from Stourbridge early in the 2023/24 season after a brief stint with Old Halesonians and, like Weaver, his ability to play across the front row gave him added value.
In addition McLeod heads up the Avery Fields Community Foundation as the Head of Community, overseeing a wide and varied range of activities.
Weaver, Bailey, Stone and McLeod are the latest players to commit to Bournville following props Stef Thorp, Kurtis Payne, James Burgoyne and Kuba Kijak.
