Loosehead prop James Burgoyne will make his first competitive appearance of the season for Bournville in Saturday’s National Two West match against Redruth at the Recreation Ground (2pm).
The experienced Burgoyne has been sidelined since he had a tooth knocked out in the final pre-season friendly at Bridgend last month but has now been passed fit and comes straight into the starting XV for the long trek to Cornwall.
Burgoyne comes into a re-jigged front row with Jake Bailey returning at hooker and James Weaver, who started there against Luctonians, swapping places with him on the bench.
Louis Mifsud starts at blindside flanker in the other change to the pack with Rhys Williams partnering Sam Grimshaw in the centre.
Williams scored one of Bournville’s five tries against Luctonians and will start alongside Sam Grimshaw who has scored three tries in the first four games of the season.
Scrum-half Ben Pitt returns to the squad as a replacement and recent recruit Will Aylen is set to make his debut off the bench.
Aylen is a former Luctonians colt who has played on the English sevens circuit for Lions and who has arrived at Avery Fields having started at Masters degree in physiotherapy at Birmingham City University.
Redruth currently sit tenth in the table, two places above Bournville, having beaten Old Redcliffians at home in their first match of the season and taken three points from a 31-31 draw at Clifton last week.
A visit to the notorious ‘Hellfire Corner’ is always a challenge for Redruth’s opposition sides and Bournville were beaten 36-17 in their first visit there last season.
But Redruth ended that campaign with three consecutive home defeats and were beaten again by Luctonians two weeks ago.
