Bournville swoop for Shaw

Bournville have made back-row forward Adam Shaw their third new signing for the 2024/25 National Two West season.

Shaw will join Bournville from Old Halesonians having previously played for Droitwich and winning county representative honours with North Midlands at Under-20s and senior levels.

Shaw will have only a short break between seasons as he is currently playing county rugby for North Midlands and has an important date at Twickenham coming up before he arrives at Avery Fields.

North Midlands edged out Dorset & Wiltshire in the Bill Beaumont County Championship Division Three play-off last weekend and they now face Devon in the final at Twickenham on June 15.

Shaw’s performances with the county and Old Halesonians have been closely monitored by Bourns’ Director of Rugby Paul Sumner who is delighted to have beaten off competition from other clubs to sign him.

“Adam was a leading back-row for Old Halesonians and we were delighted to beat other teams to his signature,” Sumner said.

“His man-of-the-match award in a recent North Midlands game shows the potential that we can’t wait to work with him.”
