Bournville have made experienced tighthead prop Chad Thorne their first signing for the 2024/25 National Two West season.
Thorne arrives at Avery Fields from Dudley Kingswinford and will bring him a wealth of experience at National Leagues level from previous stints with Hartpury University – where he also played BUCS rugby – Coventry and Stourbridge.
He also had a stint with Rotherham Titans in the Championship and represented England Students.
Thorne is well known to Bournville Head Coach Matt Price, who played alongside him in Coventry’s front row, who is delighted to have strengthened his options in the engine room of the scrum.
“Seasoned National League tightheads do not come around that often and we’re thrilled to have secured Chad for next season,” Price said.
“We relied on Stef Thorp a lot last year and with Chad coming in, we can manage the pair of them throughout the season.
“Chad also provides a valuable source of information for our younger props which will benefit them.”
Thorne’s capture adds to the re-signing of 28 current players including props Thorp, Kurtis Payne, James Burgoyne and Kuba Kijak.
