Bournville are supporting this season’s Rugby Against Cancer’s Sock Takeover campaign.
Rugby Against Cancer was set up six years ago and launched in 2020 with the aim of raising funds from rugby-related activities and initiatives to cancer charities across the country.
The Sock Takeover campaign will again see specially designed socks and sock sleeves purchased and worn by players to help raise awareness of Rugby Against Cancer.
Bournville will be supporting the campaign as a club by encouraging players in every team at Avery Fields to wear a pair of the socks – which cost £10 a pair – on a matchday to be decided this season.
“We are keen for this to be a club-wide effort with all senior teams, the walking rugby team and the mini and junior teams involved,” said Jess Turner, Treasurer of Bournville women’s section.
“One of our senior members is currently going through treatment for cancer and we are fully behind her and wishing her a speedy recovery.
“So this is in honour of everything she does, not only in the women’s section but across the whole club.
“Everyone knows someone who has or has had cancer and the care and support that they need so all support for Rugby Against Cancer’s Sock Takeover campaign will be greatly appreciated.”
Orders for socks can be made at: Brfcwomenskit@gmail.com stating which team you are ordering from along with the size of sock or sleeve.
The last date for orders is Monday November 11.
