Bournville pull off major coup with Rob Knox signing

Bournville have pulled off a major coup by beating off competition to sign experienced centre Rob Knox.

Knox has spent the past two seasons playing for Birmingham Moseley in National One but before that he made 175 appearances for Coventry in a nine-year career at the Butts Park Arena.

During that time he helped Coventry win the National One title in 2018 and was followed by four seasons with them in the Championship.

His Coventry career also overlapped with that of  Bournville Head coach Matt Price who is looking forward to having Knox in next season’s National Two West squad.

“We are delighted to have secured Rob Knox’s signature for next season when a lot of other clubs were after it too,” Price said.

“Rob is an experienced player that will add to the squad in a lot of areas for us through his pace, power and off-load game.

“He is also a very likeable guy that we will enjoy bringing into our environment.”

Knox is a former student of Coundon Court School and Coventry University and played his formative club rugby for Barkers’ Butts, an excellent rugby nursery that can count England internationals Danny Grewcock, Neil Back, Tom Wood, Bill Gittings and Rob Hardwick and Scotland’s Jim Hamilton among their former players.
