Henderson and Chitnis scoop top awards

Kieran Henderson and Susannah Chitnis scooped the top prizes at Bournville’s End of Season Awards Evening at Avery Fields.

Back-row forward Henderson was voted Men’s First XV Player of the Year which was reward for an outstanding season in which his consistently high levels of performance were a key factor in helping Bourns secure the Regional One Midlands title and promotion back to the National Leagues.

Fly-half Chitnis took the Women’s First XV Player of the Year Award for her efforts in helping the Golds return their place in NC 1 Midlands (West) following promotion 12 months ago.

Wing Nathan Decalmer was the Men’s First XV Top Try Scorer even though he was sidelined by injury for the final month of the season. The Women’s First XV Top Try Scorer was full-back Ruth Matta.

Shona McQuillan, the driving force behind the club’s website and social media, deservedly took the Club Person of the Year Award as reward for her outstanding work behind the scenes at the club.

The Men’s Second XV Player of the Year Award went to Ben Harper, who successfully converted to hooker from the back-row during the Blues season in Counties Two Midlands West (East) with Sydney Claxton winning the equivalent award for the Maroons, the women’s Second XV.

The Third XV Player of the Year was Ollie Lane with Nieve McNally taking the Women’s Young Player of the Year Award.

Molly McParland took the Most Improved Women’s Player of the Year prize at the end of a season that has seen her win senior county honours with North Midlands for the first time.
