Bournville will give a debut to Rhys Williams Goldman in Saturday’s Regional One Midlands match against Newent at the Recreation Ground.
Williams Goldman arrived from Cambridgeshire club Ely at the start of the season but injury forced him to sit out the first three months of the campaign.
He returned to action with the second XV, Bournville Blues, earlier this month and, having impressed against Harbury and Harborne, has now been promoted to the first XV. Williams Goldman will make his debut in the centre with Mikey Ho unavailable.
Adam Collingwood, who was Williams Goldman’s half-back partner for the Blues against Harborne, returns to first team action, this time on the right wing with Mauro Miller, who has recovered from the back injury he sustained against Bromsgrove, switching to full-back.
Lock Harry Dawson returns in the pack with Kieran Henderson moving from the second row – although he played the majority of the Bromsgrove match as stand-in centre – to the blindside flank.
Hooker Jamie Harding starts in a swap with Ben Rhodes who is on the bench this week along with back-row forward Chris Idehen who has recovered from a calf injury.
Bournville make their first-ever visit to Newent having been displaced as league leaders by Newport last week. While Bourns’ rearranged match at Drybrook was postponed for a second time, Newport banked a bonus point win at Dudley Kingswinford to go a point clear at the top.
Although Bournville beat Newent 41-19 in the first meeting between the clubs at Avery Fields earlier in the season the contest was closer than the final scoreline suggests and the Gloucestershire club are unbeaten at home this season.
Their victories include a 110-7 thumping of Nuneaton two weeks ago and a 33-29 success against Newport earlier in the campaign.
