Bournville Golds prop Emma Turner will make history against Telford Hornets at Avery Fields on Sunday (2pm).
Turner already holds the record for most appearances for the Golds and will win her 75th ‘cap’ against Telford.
As well as marking Turner’s landmark appearance, Sunday’s match will also be a celebration of a highly-successful campaign for the Golds who have already won the NC2 Midlands (West) title.
“On the final game of our eighth season Emma earns her 75th Cap, Emma is not only the cornerstone of our fearsome pack but can be seen week in week out making ground with the ball in hand,” said Golds coach Mark Higgins.
“Rock steady in defence and a reliable and loyal teammate who is still improving each week. As coaches Emma makes selection easy, she’s the kind of player who will play with her leg hanging off.”
Turner has reached her landmark despite a fixture list which sees the Golds play an average of only 15 matches a season with a period of enforced absence caused by the Covid pandemic.
