Old Reds held on for a bonus point win on the road against Bournville. Bournville had the elements in the first half but it was Old Reds who capitalised and ran from deep to see Jonathon Cook over in the first quarter. Bournville hit back with quick fire tries from Sam Herrington and Callum Thompson to lead 10-5. A Max Craven line break before half time saw Owen Williams cross and Craven added the conversion for a 17-5 lead at half time.

Craven then stretched the lead just after half time with a penalty but Old Reds finished the stronger of the two sides and saw tries by Edmund Boxall, Herbie McMullin and a Finn Murphy effort from a driving line out with Ashley Groves adding two conversions for a 24-20 score line. Try as they might Bournville camped on the Old Reds line into injury time couldn’t come up with a winner.

This week’s 3,2,1

1: Kuba Kijak, the young tight head steadied the ship at scrum time and despite spending 10 minutes on the naughty step, a promising showing from last years young player of the year.
2; Sam Herrington, first appearance of the season and on this showing he’ll be a welcome addition back in the pack.
3: Jack Cantelo and star man, many powerful surges and was a handful for the Old Reds defence
