Santa isn’t the only one delivering this week as Bournville’s Player Development Pathway continues to go from strength to strength.
The year ended with five of the club’s Under-18s team featuring in the senior sides with Oscar Fawkes-Underwood making his third appearance in Regional One Midlands for the first XV as a second-half replacement in the 41-19 victory at Stourbridge while four of his Colts team-mates lined up for the Blues, the second XV, in their Counties Two Midlands West (East) defeat by their counterparts from Lutterworth.
George Bann, Tom Chandler, Seb Dargue, and Felix Cawsey all lined up for the Blues with another Colt, hooker Sam Barnickle, scoring his third try in as many matches for North Midlands Under-18s in their victory over Warwickshire at Warwick School.
Further recognition for the Player Development Pathway came Under-17s player Nnami Offidile being selected to play for Coventry Rugby Academy Under-18s in their midweek match against Cardiff Blues.
With a number of other Colts players pushing to play senior rugby in the New Year, the future looks bright at Avery Fields. As more Under-18s continue to progress through the Player Development Pathway, all three senior men’s sides – the third XV compete in the North Midlands Merit Table – will benefit from the club’s talented crop of youngsters.
