Bournville have made four changes for Saturday’s National Two West match against Bristol-based Dings Crusaders at Avery Fields (2.30pm).
Wing Alex Evans, who scored the side’s only try at Newport last weekend after he came off the bench, starts on the right wing in a swap with Will Aylen.
Former Worcester Academy scrum-half Billy McDonough, who made his senior debut against Luctonians last month, returns to the squad as a starter to renew his half-back partnership with Jacob Fewtrell.
Ollie Stone starts at hooker in a swap with James Weaver with experienced lock Nick Murphy returning in the second row in the other change to the pack.
Ben O’Sullivan moves from lock to the blindside flank to accommodate Murphy with Louis Mifsud, who started in the back-row at Newport, switching to the bench.
Chris Idehen will again captain the side in the absence of Ryan Smeilus.
Dings will arrive at Avery Fields cock-a-hoop after they ended Luctonians unbeaten start to the season with a 17-15 win at Shaftesbury Park last Saturday.
Dings also did the double over Bournville last season, edging a 45-41 home win early in the season followed by a 41-29 success on their first visit to Avery Fields in January on their way to finishing second behind champions Leicester Lions.
Dings are one of Bristol’s oldest clubs having been formed in 1897 as part of the Dings Boys Club in a deprived area of the city although they now play in the much grander surroundings of Shaftesbury Park, an £8m multi-sports complex in Frenchay, which was opened in 2018.
Back-to-back promotions between 2001 and 2003 took Dings into the National Leagues for the first time and after a brief return to South West One, they were promoted again five years ago.
