Bournville wing Nathan Decalmer has been included in The Rugby Paper’s National Two West Dream XV for the 2024/25 season.
The Dream XV is voted for by the weekly newspaper’s National Two West correspondents with Decalmer’s citation stating: “Showed that his first season in the National Leagues was not a flash in the pan with some brilliant tries which lit up and otherwise forgettable season for Bournville.
“His 19-try campaign last term was followed by an 11-try season including braces home and away against Devonport Services.”
Although Decalmer was the only Bournville player to be included in the Dream XV there were mentions in dispatches for three more – full-back Owen Williams who left in mid-season and props James Burgoyne and Stef Thorp. Burgoyne and Thorp played their final matched against league champions Clifton in April with Thorp retiring and Burgoyne moving to Devon.
“James Burgoyne is a powerful scrummager who is departing Bournville meaning his loss to the relegated side will be someone’s valuable gain,” said The Rugby Paper.
“An honourable mention goes to recently retired Bournville front row Stef Thorp who maintained his ferocious scrummaging.
“An honourable mention goes to Bournville’s Owen Williams for a standout campaign despite his side’s relegation.”
