Bournville support Lewis Moody fund-raiser

Bournville’s autumn Sports Lunch raised £2,300 for former England captain Lewis Moody who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Leon Lloyd, Moody’s close friend and former Leicester Tigers team-mate, talked movingly about Moody at the lunch at Birmingham’s Grand Hotel and the money was raised from an auction for the 2003 Rugby World Cup winner.

Wayne Barnes, the retired former international referee, was the main speaker at the sell-out event, the latest in a series of popular Sports Lunches organised by the club.

The lunch was generously supported by Frontier Facilities Management, the company of former Bournville, Birmingham & Solihull and Moseley prop Rob Sigley, who were the event’s platinum sponsors.

Former England scrum-half Danny Care will be the guest speaker at Bournville’s Winter Sports Lunch at the Grand Hotel on Friday February 27.

Care made 101 appearances for England in a distinguished international career and a record 394 for Harlequins before he retired in May.
