Four members of Bournville’s Colts team have been included in the Greater Birmingham squad for the North Midlands Under-18s trials at Stourbridge on Wednesday.
Hooker Sam Barnickle, brothers Alfie Chandler- a fly-half/centre – and lock/blindside flanker Tom Chandler and George Bann, another blindside flanker/lock, have already successfully progressed through two trials to make the Greater Birmingham squad and will now have the opportunity to impress the North Midlands selectors at Stourbridge.
The quartet are all part of the club’s Player Development Pathway programme under the tutelage of Matt Mirecki with Bann having recently made his debut for Bournville Blues, the club’s Second XV, in Counties Two Midlands West (East).
Another product of Bournville’s Player Development Programme, 17-year-old Oscar Fawkes-Underwood, has already progressed to the senior squad at Avery Fields and made his debut in the pre-season friendly against Silhillians in August.
