Bourns dozen set for Twickenham final

Twelve members of Bournville’s Regional One Midlands title-winning squad will have the chance to end a memorable season with more silverware on Sunday.

The Avery Fields dozen have helped North Midlands to reach the final of the Bill Beaumont Cup County Championship Division Two and they will now have a big day out at Twickenham where they face Northumberland (3pm).

Bourns have provided the largest contingent from one club throughout North Midlands’ unbeaten run to the final which included a thrilling 43-41 win against Devon in last week’s semi-final, secured by a last-gasp penalty from Jacob Fewtrell after wing Mauro Miller had scored a hat-trick of tries.

Fewtrell and Miller will start again at Twickenham with Fewtrell also being the county’s vice-captain, a role he prospered in for Bourns in the title-winning campaign.

They will be joined in the county’s starting XV by loosehead prop Scott Rudge, hooker Ben Rhodes, openside flanker Adam Shaw, wing Mikey Ho and centre Sam Grimshaw.

Bourns also provide five of the replacements in props Clarkson McLeod, and Jake Thompson, lock and club captain Ben Meakin, back-row forward Chris Idehen and scrum-half Reiss Price.

Bournville are also well-represented in the North Midlands’ coaching team with CJ Osazuwa, who recently stepped down as Forwards Coach, and lead physio Will James part of the staff headed by John Tibbetts, a former Bourns team manager.

Bournville are running a coach to Twickenham to support the boys.

The coach will depart Avery Fields at 10.30am sharp.

The cost is £25 return and places can be secured, on a first-come first-served basis, here.
