Bournville Colts hooker Sam Barnickle has been named in the North Midlands Under-18s squad for their opening county match of the season against Staffordshire at Stourbridge on Sunday (3.40pm).
Barnickle, a student at Kings Norton Boys School, has been named in the starting XV for the match having impressed playing for Greater Birmingham at the North Midlands trials last month.
The Staffordshire match will be the last of three in the Super Sunday event at Stourton Park which is the next stage in selection for the Midlands Under-18s divisional squad.
Further Super Sunday events follow at Leicester Forest on December 7 where North Midlands will face Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire (1pm) and at Warwick School on December 21 where Warwickshire will be the opposition (2.10pm).
