Bournville Blues made a winning debut in the RFU Leagues with a 48-5 victory over Woodrush under the Forhill floodlights in Counties Midlands Three West (South).
Despite the final scoreline this was a tough first assignment for the Blues and it was only in the final ten minutes that they managed to break down the resistance of their hosts.
There were eight tries for the Blues with full-back Niall Demel and back-row forward Lewis Hall scoring two each.
Lock Harry Belcher, wing Josh Tutt number eight Kier Henderson and replacement Eddie Wiggins also crossed with fly-half Joe Nellany converting four of the tries.
Nellany also managed the game well with Hall and West, two players with plenty of first team experience, both making their experience count.
A bonus point win was the perfect start for the Blues but renewing old rivalries and rekindling friendships with local clubs will be an important part of their season.
The Blues are next in action on Saturday September 14 when Pershore are the visitors to Avery Fields.
