Blues impress in Kings Norton win

Bournville Blues moved to second in the Counties Midlands Three West (South) table – perhaps temporarily – with a comfortable bonus point 68-13 win over Kings Norton at Avery Fields.

The Blues ran in ten tries with hooker Conor Thorneycroft, wing Jack Mitchell and number eight Will Taylor each scoring two.

Ben Harper, Sam Grimshaw, Matt Serrell-Cooke and Jamie Avery also crossed in a commanding display.

The win took the Blues to within four points of league leaders Woodrush who travel to third placed Upton on Severn – now a point adrift – on Saturday.

The Blues were made to work hard for a 28-6 half-time lead by a spirited Kings Norton before pulling clear in the second-half to bank an eleventh win of the season and their eighth try bonus point.

The Blues continue their league programme with a trip to Malvern IIs next Saturday.

Many thanks to Paul Bolton for providing a match report.

I couldn’t make this game, but I will use it as a chance to show Bournville Blues at work against Upton from a week or so earlier.
