Bournville’s initiative to support the B30 and South Birmingham Foodbank has been extended until Sunday December 17.
A donation point has been set up at the top of the clubhouse stairs at Avery Fields where a large number of essential items have been left.
If you have not already donated you can still do so before all items are delivered to the Foodbank’s warehouse in Kings Norton in time for them to be distributed to those in need before Christmas.
Donated items can be left during office hours Monday to Friday, match days and training nights.
The B30 and South Birmingham Foodbank was set up in 2013 when it fed 2,500 people but that has grown to 13,700 in the past year.
“We are asking everyone who has an involvement at Avery Fields to think about those less fortunate than themselves in the run-up to Christmas,” said Bournville Managing Director Phil Maynard.
“We know that a significant number of people in our community will struggle to put food on the table during the festive season and we hope that we can help to make Christmas a little bit happier for them.
“The Avery Fields Community Foundation already does a lot of excellent work in south and west Birmingham and our campaign to support the outstanding work that the B30 and South Birmingham Foodbank does in the area is an extension of that.
“We would ask all those who visiting Avery Fields in the next few days – whether they are playing or watching rugby or attending one of the many events that take place here each week – to support us by making a donation.”
